Physical Activities Prolog the Life
When not belongs to the select group of genetic gifted that meet 100 years of an enviable health, reaching 80 with the arteries healthy brain and a good mood is a good sign that there are still years to live.
But that is not all: shoes the shoes at that age to 30 minutes a day of physical activity was even more effective than control any risk factor, such as hypertension, obesity or tobacco, for example, to prolong the life expectancy, at least, another five years.
That is what we showed the first study in the country to know why there are people who live beyond the 80, the age that today is considered limit, without the genes more favorable and with problems neuropsychological that normally shorten life, such as Alzheimer’s, the cerebrovascular disease or depression.
“It is a population that we are getting increasingly in the clinics, and that does not include only to those who arrive at that age without disease, but also to those who already have problems and even so, exceeds that life expectancy. What we wonder, then, is what factors the protected in order to reach the 80 and what it allows them to continue to live,” explained to the nation Dr. Ricardo Allegri, professor of neurology Institute Cemic University, and Conicet researcher and the government of the city of Buenos Aires.
To know, Allegri and doctors Fernando Taragano, Pablo Bagnati and Janus Kremer monitored for five years the health of 337 men and women aged 80, which, for some reason, had consulted in a service of neurology of three cities: Buenos Aires, Mar del Plata and Cordoba.
The main diseases were the dementia (Alzheimer’s type, fron to temporal and of Lowy bodies), the cerebrovascular disease, the deterioration cognitive behavioral therapy and depression. Every three months, doctors made them clinical trials, radiological, laboratory and intellectuals.
The results, which were presented here today, in the 16th International Congress of Psychiatry, surprised the specialists. The five years, still alive six out of ten (58%) people without cerebrovascular disease versus just three of every ten (32%) with injuries in the blood vessels of the brain.
“This difference is the healthy consequence of have prevented the hypertension, diabetes, obesity, inactivity, smoking, etcetera, between 40 and 60 years -explained Taragano, professor of psychiatry and principal investigator of the University Institute Cemic. Obviously, arrive at that age vascularmente healthy is a predictor important to live between 80 and, at least, the 85 years. If not, the likely to die in these five years increase.”
The same occurred among patients with depression and without it: only three of every ten depressed people to the 80 survived until the 85, while five of every ten patients with good mood alive at that age.
“OF Course is very important to control the cardiovascular risk factors from the youth, but it is most likely reach 80 with several of these factors. If in spite of that, it is, these variables will not be the most important since then. In that, this study is entirely new,” he added Taragano.
For Allegri, all this shows that “there is to start working with the cardiovascular risk factors and stroke, but from the 30 as an investment in prevention to future”.
But very good news that provided the study was that an indication as simple as do 30 minutes of physical activity (swimming, walking, water gymnastics, dancing or bicycling) five days a week was the best clinical intervention to prolong the life expectancy from 80 years.
“There is no that kill: maximum is, for example, walking with lightweight shoes and comfortable clothing. If you already made any physical activity, improve a little,” advised.
In the study, 78 percent of the people who initiated any physical activity on a regular basis and according to the indications of doctors remained alive at 85, while those who remained sedentary survived just 46 percent.
“The health stroke, the mood and exercise are the keys, but the physical activity is the variable that more survivors contributed”, ended the author.
